After reading Kobre chapter 11 i learned multiple interesting points and information about photo stories and how to do it. for example is they explains what the difference is between a collection of a lot of photos from a photo story. According to the article it states that a photo story always has a theme of pictures that go along with the story that is trying to be told through the pictures. Judging by the pictures you should be able to identify the central point the story is showing you.
Also another thing I learned from the article was Topical Trends. In the article it mentions that a trend story identifies as a gradual but demonstrable real change that might include shifts in the public buying references. A trend is not something that just happens in a day it occurs gradually over a period of time. Also a topical book or movie might stimulate a photographer’s interest to investigate the subject with his or her photo.
A newspeg is another interesting fact I learned in the article. In the article it states that if you are an employee or a freelancer an editor is more likely to use your picture story if you have a newspeg. According to the article a newspeg tells the reader why the story is being seen now instead of six moths ago or six months into the future. Also in the article the main idea is to tie your story into a font page news item then your story will lift off from there immediately without the wait .
overall this chapter has taught me three important facts when you are doing a photo story. You have to have a theme for it because if you don’t it would just be a collection of pictures gathered. Furthermore topical trends were important because they just don.t develop in a day it takes time. And finally a newspeg which editors tend to look for and how you can tie your story to a front page and watch it take off immediately.
