I chose to read over Planet Money Makes a T-shirt. I wanted to read it over because I never really looked at the aspect of what it takes to make the shirt. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only person who doesn’t think about it to. Come on, I know people who hardly think about what it takes to actually make the shirt that we wear and just look at it as a shirt when it takes a process to make it. Just think about the machinery that is used for the shirts the people who are help making. Also the pricing of the machines and employees wages when it comes to the t-shirt. There’s a lot of information to find out about all of this and I don’t mind finding out more information about this. One reason for the process of making planet t-shirt is the U.S cotton. There are other countries where you can get cotton from but planet t-shirts use U.S cotton. Also the U.s exports the most cotton more then everyone in the world. I feel like the video made a good point about the way the U.s makes the cotton now because, it has really changed and evolved over years. Instead of it being made by hand the cotton is being made by technology now. I feel like it was interesting to see how the machines make the cotton and the process and transporting it takes as explained in the article and video. For example it shows how the cotton is twisted by the machines and is made into yarn. Then after that it gets transported to a knitting machine then is made into fabric. Another great aspect that it gets across is that the people who are making the shirts have to go through. It shows how the people in small countries such as Bangladesh go through just to make the shirts we wear. It turns out the work conditions aren’t the best and people work hard long hours and only make such little wages. The people work there because for most it’s the only way to keep food on the table. I discovered a lot of information that I didn’t know about and saw what people had to go through over just something small as a shirt.
